| DIETER Training and early years Dieter started his career as an apprentice in Bath in 1978. He quickly rose from stylist to manager of the Bath division of Partners Hair Salon, which, in the mid-eighties, was leading the way hairdressing and considered a major rival to international chain Toni and Guy. During this time he taught hairdressing across the UK as well as in the USA, and his work regularly appeared in top hair magazines. He also carried out demonstrations at the UK's most prestigious hairdressing trade fair, Salon International. Building first-class experience For almost a decade from 1989 to 1998 Dieter worked across three salons in Bath and built up his reputation as one of the finest and most innovative stylists in the city. He participated in the Alternative Hair Show in London, presenting an avant-garde stage show that led to more national magazine and media work. Hedonism is born In 1998, Dieter recognised it was time to set up his own salon and the first branch of Hedonism opened on Bath's famous Milsom Street. This gave Dieter and his team a springboard for further national magazine work and saw the beginning of Dieter's creative relationship with well-known photographer Emma Delves Broughton whose work appears in top fashion magazines as well as her own highly acclaimed books. The styling of the salon was featured in the trade journal Hairdressers Journal with a 3 page spread. That same year the salon was chosen for the prestigious front cover for their yearly Salon Style Magazine. In 2001, Hedonism managed to secure two places in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy semi-final in Bristol in the ladies and men's categories and cemented the team's reputation as leading colourists in the South West. No mean feat as selection is through a national panel of your peers - from all the South West salons only 25 places were available. Hedonism today In 2004, Dieter chose to move the salon to Widcombe, a vibrant and bustling High Street a two-minute walk from Bath Spa Station and the city centre. The Georgian building was renovated to a very high standard and offers clients a stylish environment in which to relax with their dedicated stylist. Dieter made the decision to transform the salon into a unique one-to-one experience in 2005. This means he works alone, overseeing all aspects of the styling and finishing process, and can offer clients the ultimate in personal attention. A portfolio of Dieter's styling work has been regularly published both in top hair magazines and, most recently, on the front cover of two books by top fashion photographer Emma Delves Broughton. Dieter was invited by Matthew Clullee to take part in the Passionate Pink Fashion Show 2007 (in aid of Break through Breast Cancer) at Mal Maison Hotel, Oxford. He helped to create the looks for the evening catwalk show and helped to synchronise the smooth changeover of models between routines and to ensure that hairstyles were fit to be seen. He has since returned for a repeat performance with the Passionate Pink Fashion Show 2011. The Keble Ball In Summer 2008 Dieter again worked with Mathew Clulee's Hairdressing Team, creating the evening style for the girls at the famous Keble Ball held in part of the Oxford University Campus. As you can see they were very busy! Jodie Photoshoot Working with photographer Nick Delves-Broughton, husband of Emma, in the summer of 2009. He decided to use the Salon as an interesting backdrop. And, of course, Dieter styled the models hair. |
